Global Leadership Experience Tour (Global LET)

The Global Leadership Experience Tour (Global LET) provides an opportunity for the multi-generational LINKS Network to travel internationally for leadership education and awareness that includes a historical, cultural, and social insight to a particular time and place. We believe that intentionally creating these opportunities for learning can inform a leader’s character, critical thinking, and innovative skills as we work towards positive solutions for the leadership challenges of our day. To this end, we partner with like-minded individuals and organizations to cultivate tours that are consistent with our organization’s purpose, mission, and core values.

In August 2017, Leadership LINKS, Inc. sent a small delegation to Lagos, Nigeria to provide spiritual formation, leadership, mentoring, and ethics training at the West Africa Theological Seminary (WATS). This included education for their school, strategic partners, and the women in the community. In the Summer of 2018, the Leadership LINKS Network sponsored one of our youth LINKS Leaders to attend an international missions trip to the country of Nepal. In the Summer of 2019, the organization and LINKS Network sponsored two youth LINKS Leaders to attend international trips to Israel and Tokyo, Japan.

Officially hosting a Global Leadership Experience Tour (Global LET) is a means for the organization to intentionally provide leadership education that facilitates impactful living in alignment with our organization’s mission, and to ensure that we are providing more opportunities for those in our Network to grow and become global leaders themselves.

In the summer of 2020, Leadership LINKS, Inc. is planning its first Global LET to  Canada with the theme “Road to Freedom” as we trace the Underground Railroad.

The estimated cost for this Global Leadership Experience Tour (Global LET) is $40,000.

Leadership Experience Tour (LET)

The Leadership Experience Tour (LET) gives participants an exciting learning adventure designed to further develop their Knowledge of history and culture and position them to walk in purpose with a hopeful future. Designed in the spirit of a Sankofa or pilgrimage, this 3-4 day overnight experience is held in targeted cities throughout the United States. A Sankofa is a word in the Twi language of Ghana which translates to read, “Go back and get it;” it communicates the importance of reaching back to gain Knowledge from the past and bringing that understanding into the present for the purpose of positive change.

The learning which takes place outside of the classroom provides tremendous value. In many cases, a child’s vision for her future will greatly expand simply by taking her to new places and exposing her to big ideas under the guided mentorship of enthusiastically informed leaders.

Whether it is a visit to a college campus, the tracing of historical events, learning about social challenges and movements, or exploring the impact of arts and culture, the LET educates LINKS Leaders about how leaders before them have committed to using their skills and resources for the greater good of humanity, which gives them the confidence and courage to intentionally address the challenges of our day.

The organization completed its first LET to Atlanta, GA in 2018 to support The King Center’s honoring the “50th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” The second LET (2019) included various stops in the state of Alabama like the Legacy Museum and National Museum of Peace and Justice, 16th Street Baptist Church, and Tuskegee University.  The 2022 LET took LINKS Leaders to Charlottesville, VA to explore how that city shaped and continues to shape U.S. History.

The estimated cost for a Leadership Experience Tour (LET) is $25,000.

Strategically connecting with “the right people in the right place at the right time” can make a positive impact in anyone’s life. Our Visionary Founder believes that life’s greatest Service comes from investing in small groups of people over long periods of time. Therefore, the Leadership LINKS Mentoring Programs include leadership, coaching, mentoring, higher education and career counseling, goal and vision-setting, character and spiritual development, access and opportunities, professional training, and life skills all in one program that is facilitated by a dynamic and supportive community.

Our leadership path begins in 6th grade and includes a nine month (Sept-May) mentoring program for girls (6th-12 grade) and continues with a ten month mentoring program for young women (ages 18-30) who are in the early or transitional stages of their careers.

Leadership LINKS Path to College

Leadership LINKS, Inc. offers events which Inspire and educate youth, their families, and the community about academic options that support their future desires. Growing in Knowledge and establishing a supportive Network through the college experience can be a catalysts for LINKS Leaders fulfilling their life’s purposes, while providing the necessary foundation and resourcing to become innovators, entrepreneurs, and executive leaders.

Leadership LINKS hosts college education events and partners with like-minded organizations, colleges and universities across the U.S. to provide education and admissions training for college-bound students. Our nonprofit diligently seeks opportunities to get students on college campuses so they can learn directly from students and faculty, “get a feel for the place” or gain a sense of their belonging as part of their research to determine the best fit. Our past college-focused events or campus visits include: University of Maryland University (College Park, MD), High Point University (High Point, NC), Spelman College (Atlanta, GA), Tuskegee University (Tuskegee, AL), Guilford College (Greensboro, NC), University of Virginia (Charlottesville, VA), and Virginia State University (Petersburg, VA).

The LINKS Paths to College events provide education in the following areas: the benefits of attending college, how to prepare for college, selecting the right school and academic major, outlining the admissions process, financial aid and obtaining debt-free education, and writing a powerful college essay.

Leadership Service Opportunities (LSO)

The founding directors of Leadership LINKS, Inc. are all U.S. Naval Academy graduates and military veterans who agree that Service is important in and out of uniform. Our commitment to Service as an organizational core value supports the belief that, “To whom much is given, much is required.” Growing this nonprofit organization and cultivating our Leadership LINKS Network supports our desire to give back to our local communities by raising up the next generation of servant leaders. Engaging and equipping LINKS Leaders of character who are committed to service makes this organization unique, in a world that is growing increasingly self-centered, destructive, and without hope.

Leaders often discover and develop their purpose through Service. Our Leadership Service Opportunities (LSO) allow LINKS Leaders to serve their local community, while expanding the Leadership LINKS Network. We welcome the opportunity to partner with individuals and organizations who are committed to using their skills and resources for the greater good of humanity by addressing community, national, and/or global needs. The LSOs are often led by our Youth Leadership Committee (YLC).

“Walk in Purpose” Leadership Summer Program for Girls

The “Walk in Purpose” Leadership Summer Program for Girls is a week-long, day-only summer leadership and character development program which prepares rising 6th through 12th grade girls for innovation, executive leadership, and entrepreneurship. One of the ways that we accomplish this goal is by introducing program participants to career fields where women are traditionally underrepresented in the higher echelons of leadership. These sectors include: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM); Media and Arts; Business and Entrepreneurship; and Military and Government.

This program promotes the following: female leadership, relationally appropriate and professional male-female collaboration and partnerships, critical thinking and self-advocacy, identification of personal and professional goals, character and spiritual development, team building, navigation of intergenerational relationships, identification and embrace of difference leadership traits, professional work skills, internet safety, mental and physical well-being, collaboration for finding solutions to community challenges, sisterhood, and fun.

The Board of Directors seeks to expand this week-long program to an overnight experience. The estimated cost for the expanded program is $30,000.00.
